Hello,
I want an error message saying reenter tax ID to pop up if the Reenter Tax ID does not equal to Tax ID. I have conditions listed out, but they are not working. Could you please explain what is causing the error and how to fix it?
Thank you,

Hi Daman,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. For this to work, add a Paragraph element for the error message if the Tax ID and Reenter Tax ID aren't matched. Doing this is easy, let's walk through this together using a cloned form:
- In Form Builder, click on Add Element.
- Under the Form Elements, go to the Basic tab. Scroll down and look for the Paragraph element and add it after the Reenter Tax ID.
- Now, click on the Pencil icon on the right side of the Paragraph element. Add a custom message stating that the Tax ID and the Reenter Tax ID don't match.
- Then, click on the Check icon to save.
Now, let's add a condition to show the Paragraph element if both form elements don't match:
- In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
- Click on Conditions in the menu on the left side of the page.
- Now, click on the Add Condition button on top and select Show/Hide Field condition.
- Then, create the Show/Hide Field condition shown in the screenshot below:
- Then, finally hit the Save button.
Here's another screencast showing how it works:
This is the link to my cloned form if you'd like to take a closer look at it.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Kris,
Is there a way to prevent a vendor from continuing onto the next item (Point of Contact) until the Reenter Tax ID matches the Tax ID? That is the condition I am trying to set.
Thank you,
Daman

Hi Kris,
We can add a condition to hide the Next button if the Tax ID and the Reenter Tax ID don't match. But this will only work using a Classic form layout, since the Card form layout won't show Next or page breaks in the condition. I'll share the details below:
Change form layout from Card to Classic:
- In Form Builder, click on the Paint Roller icon on the right side.
- Under the Form Designer, go to the Layout tab.
- Select Classic Form and refresh the page.
Let's add pages to the form:
- In Form Builder, click on the Add Element on the left side.
- Under the Form Elements, go to the Basic tab.
- Scroll down and look for the Page Break element. Add it after the Paragraph element. This will add another page to the form.
Edit the condition for Tax ID and Reenter Tax ID:
- In Form Builder, click on the Conditional Branch icon on the right side of the Tax ID. You'll be redirected to the conditions connected to it.
- Next is to click on the Pencil icon on the condition to edit.
- Change the condition to what's shown in the screenshot below:
Here's a screencast of how this works:
I used the same cloned form from before. You can check it.
Reach out to us if you need any more help.
