I have a Checklist field that is "required". I keep getting a message stating "This field is required," even though all the items have been checked. I cannot figure out why. Can someone view the form and help me out? The form is Hometown Christmas 2025.

    Hi mainstreetwauchula,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I cloned your form and filled out all the options in the Checklist widget. But I wasn't able to run into the required field error you shared in the screenshot. I've shown a screenshot below:

This can be a cache issues with your form. I cleared them on my end, but you can also do this on your Jotform account. Although Clearing Your Form Caches isn't done automatically, it's easy to do it manually. Let me show you how:

    1. On your My Workspace page, click on your Avatar/Profile Image icon.

    2. In the dropdown menu, click on Settings.Required field error showing Image 2 Screenshot 51

    3. In the Settings menu, click on Clear Cache. And that's it, you're done.Required field error showing Image 3 Screenshot 62

Give it a try and let us know if you need any other help.

    Hi @mainstreetwauchula,

That error usually happens when the Checklist widget doesn’t fully register the selections. A few quick things to try:

    • Check the widget’s settings to confirm “Required” is enabled.
    • Clear your form cache in Account Settings → Clear Cache.
    • Test in another browser to rule out validation issues.
    • If it still fails, try deleting and re-adding the Checklist field — sometimes the widget can get corrupted.

    Hi mainstreetwauchula,

I tested again my cloned form and followed your instructions to not select all the options. Then I changed to another form element but was unable to run into the said required field error. Here's another screencast you can check out:

Then, to isolate this. I also tried to fill out your form but didn't submit it. The same thing happens. The required field error isn't showing. The screencast below shows how I filled out your form:

Is your form embedded on a website? Can you capture a screenshot of the browser's console report when the required field error message shows? You can see a helpful guide on getting the browser's console report from this link.

When we hear back from you, we’ll be ready to move forward.

I didn't see in the screenshots that you actually clicked on the Submit button. It may just not have shown it. That is when I get the error. I want to confirm that you actually did choose "Submit".

I had previously cleared the cache, used a different browser, and recreated the list. I will try all of those options again though.

    Hi mainstreetwauchula,

I can see you've changed the widget to a Paragraph element. Were you able to run into the same issue after changing it? I cloned the latest form, and it proceeds with paying using the PayPal payment integration. Going back, I've readded the Checklit widget and tried to Submit the form. The same result happens on my end. The required field error isn't showing. Here's another screencast showing the newly added widget:

Can you capture the browser's console report while the required field error is showing?

After we hear back from you, we’ll know what’s going on and how to help.
