Dropdown field: Possibility to hide specific option temporarily

I have created an application form.

This form is for students studying abroad, and students can select their first to fifth choices of universities.

I want to reuse this form every year, so I have entered the maximum number of universities.

However, not all universities recruit students every year, so I would like to temporarily hide the universities that are not recruiting.

Is there a way to hide specific options in a dropdown field instead of deleting them?
