Does Zelle enable HIPAA compliance?

Zelle’s website does not address HIPAA compliance, but since it is solely a payment processor, it is possible that it isn’t required to meet HIPAA requirements.

There is no mention of HIPAA or Business Associate Agreements (BAA) on the Zelle website. It’s worth noting that Zelle may be exempt from HIPAA because the Department of Health and Human Services has stated that payment processors are not business associates and, thus, fall outside the scope of HIPAA.
