Does EPIC EHR enable HIPAA compliance?

Epic’s electronic health record (EHR) platform is one of the most widely used EHRs around. There’s not much information about HIPAA or Business Associate Agreements (BAA) on the Epic website, aside from a podcast on Epic and Generative AI that refers to the platform’s “HIPAA-compliant pipeline.”

According to the folio3 Digital Health website, Epic offers features that enable HIPAA compliance, including encryption, limited apps, audit trails, Transport Layer Security (TLS), and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). 360Connect also details EPIC’s HIPAA compliance features.
