What Is Section 508 and WCAG Compliance?
Section 508 is a United States federal law that requires federal agencies to procure, create, use and maintain information and communications technology (ICT) that is accessible to people with disabilities.
WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is an international standard for web content accessibility. The WCAG guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
Who Needs to be Section 508 Compliant?
Section 508 applies to all agencies that receive federal funding. This includes government agencies, non-profit organizations that receive federal funding, public K–12 schools, and public colleges and universities.
Can I Enable Form Accessibility on an Existing Form, or Do I Need to Create a New Form?
Form Accessibility can be enabled on your existing forms as well as on the new forms.
What Fields Can I Use in Accessible Forms?
You can use all basic fields, payment fields, and most widgets. You will see a warning in the editor if a specific widget is not supported.
What Is a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT)? Do You Offer It?
VPAT provides a comprehensive breakdown of how a specific product or technology follows Section 508 and WCAG compliance standards. If your company is required by law to follow accessibility guidelines, review Jotform VPAT.
Do Jotform Accessible Forms Cover ADA Compliance?
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is currently developing regulations specifically addressing the accessibility of goods and services offered via the web by entities covered by the ADA. In the meantime, covered entities are encouraged to use the WCAG 2.0 level AA guidelines. Jotform Accessible Forms cover the WCAG 2.1 Level A and Level AA guidelines.
What Level of Accessibility Compliance Comes With Jotform Accessible Forms?
With Jotform builder, you can create accessible forms that are Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 Level A and Level AA compliant.
Can We Create AODA Compliant Web Forms Using Jotform?
According to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements, covered entities must conform to most of the WCAG 2.0 Level AA criteria by the end of 2020. Jotform Accessible Forms do cover the WCAG 2.0 level AA guidelines.
Can We Create Forms Compliant With UK Accessibility Requirements?
This is possible since Jotform Accessible Forms meet level AA of the WCAG 2.1. Note that if you use your form by its direct link, you must have an accessibility statement. You can add your accessibility statement using a ‘Text’ element in the form builder.
How Will the Jotform Accessible Forms Option Affect Forms Already Created/Deployed?
We do not automatically enable the Jotform Accessible Forms option on already created forms. However, you can manually enable it on your existing forms.
Do We Need to Pay Extra to Be Able to Make Accessible Forms?
No, accessible forms are supported with all Jotform plans. You can make accessible forms without extra fees.
Do You Have Any Advice When It Comes to Creating Accessible Forms?

Are There Any Limitations on Integrations in Accessible Forms?
No, the integrations can be used on accessible forms. However, if you have a HIPAA-friendly account, the integrations will only be limited to HIPAA-friendly integrations.
Are Accessible Forms Compatible with Screen Readers Software?
Yes, respondents using screen readers software should be able to use it when accessing Jotform Accessible Forms.
Do You Support Voice Recognition Software to Type in Form Fields?
There is no built-in voice recognition functionality in our accessible forms. However, we use standard HTML inputs (fields) in forms. The 3rd party voice recognition software with Text-to-Speech functionality for the web is supported.
Does the Accessibility Checker Limit What You Can Do in the Form Builder?
The form accessibility option does not limit the functionality of the form builder. You will need to follow suggestions to make your form accessible.
E-signature Widgets Are Not Supported in Accessible Forms. Is There a Workaround?
You may consider using a regular ‘Short Text Entry’ field as an alternative to the E-signature widgets.
How Does Accessibility Change in All Questions on Classic versus Using Card Forms?
You can create an accessible in Classic or the Card layout. You can even swap the layout, and the Form Builder automatically chooses the accessible theme/color scheme for you.
Is Form Accessibility WCAG 2.0 or 2.1 Compliant?
We conform to WCAG 2.1 Level A and Level AA. The WCAG 2.1 extends WCAG 2.0; this means that content that conforms to WCAG 2.1 also conforms to WCAG 2.0. In other words, we cover Level A and Level AA for WCAG 2.0 and WCAG 2.1.
Do You Support File Upload Functionality in Accessible Forms?
Yes, the file upload functionality is supported in Jotform Accessible Forms.
