Calculation values are numerical values assigned to options in selection fields such as dropdowns, single-choice also known as radio buttons, and multiple-choice also known as checkboxes. These values are often used for conditional logic and form calculations, making your forms more interactive and functional. For example, in assessment forms, calculation values can assign scores to answers, allowing the form to calculate a total score automatically. Similarly, in evaluation forms, you can use them to rate performance, tally scores, or determine results based on the respondent’s selections. This feature works with Basic Form Elements—Dropdown, Single Choice, and Multiple Choice.
Here’s how to assign calculation values to form field options:
- In Form Builder, select a dropdown, single-choice, or multiple-choice field on your form and click on the Gear icon on its right to open its Properties.
- Next, go to the Options tab of the Properties section on the right of the page.
- Go to the Calculation Values property and toggle it to the On position.
- Then, in the table that appears below, enter a value on the right of the options you set in your field.
Note
Any changes to the calculation values of your form field options are automatically saved.
Try the Sample Event Registration Form in the example above to see how the Calculation Values work. The value in the Total Cost field is calculated based on the number of tickets and any extra items selected.
Pro Tip
You can copy multiple calculation values separated by a line from a source and paste them into the Calculation Values table in your selection field’s Properties. This lets you set all the calculation values for your field options in one go.

What should we do so that the values for each of the choices will appear in the excel after the participants will answer the items?

I am having difficulty with the calculation widget on my newest form, The Brief Experiential Avoidance scale. I click on all of the fields in the Form Calculation Widget, but when I click on select a response for each item, it is returning a scientific number. What am I doing wrong? In the example, I see a need to add a + after each row, but when I try to do this it just adds the + at the bottom of all the rows. Please explain what I am doing wrong and how to do this correctly. Thank you.

What if I don't want the form submission to have the text choices but the calculation values instead? (easier to compile in a spreadsheet)

Yes, I am so glad you can paste a set of line-separated values from your clipboard! Thank you

In the pet grooming app booking form query there is no option to add timescales? Different levels of grooming take different lengths of time?
I need it to auto select up to two hours if a full groom is selected or 15 minutes etc if just a nail clip is selected?
the only only provided is a numerical option for cost? This option also would be handy if generated at the time of viewing on the booking form?

RE: How to Assign Calculation Values
What if there was a product category for hats, t-shirts, and shoes each with three different calculation value options. How do you add the calculation values from each product category in that scenario? How do you add the values together? Is there a template demonstrates this

I'm having problems with trying to add my column values to produce a total score at the bottom of my form. I have watched the videos and tutorials but the calculation is off and is not adding the sum columns. Please help.

Good day, I want to create a form that provides an adjudicator with the option of assigning a number from 1-10 for the each of the questions related to the nomination, then multiplies that number by a percentage of overall value that that question is assigned, and adds up each of the categories at the end of the form

Is there a way to include the value in the form? So when someone selects deluxe package, it inputs the value (the dollar amount) into the form below (the contract).

Am I correct that calculation values do not support variables like the field Unique Name? I'd like to reference another field in the calculation by entering {field}.

I have been assigned a form, and I would like to make some modifications and add additional widgets to enhance its functionality. Could you kindly guide me on how to edit the form to implement these changes effectively?
Furthermore, my main question revolves around calculating the average for certain questions in the form without having the "N/A" responses impact the overall score. Is there a way to exclude "N/A" values from the calculations while still obtaining an accurate average for the relevant questions?

Hello! My team wants to ensure that we can list out a list of multiple "subverticals"
based on which "verticals" are checked (whichVerticals22)
Reason is the list can get extensive and we only want the users to see the subverticals relevant to their earlier selection, BUT we want to include all the subverticals associated with earlier checkbox choices displaying and selectable.
I short - vs our setup now - we want to have the same functionality in terms of conditional dependent visibility, BUT have all the views be within ONE - not multiple - fields - so we can map it to our salesforce.
Seems like the visibility logic only enables showing or hiding questions, not differentiating what choices are shown in that question?
If thats case how is this achieved - calculations? (Not even sure a calculation can be the source of dropdown choices on jotform, plus there must be better ways than that.
Thanks so much!

HI, I need a bit more clarification on the value calculation feature. I have 8 options (classes) and the capacity for each is 12 (except for rug weaving - the capacity for that class is 10). I need to know that students will not be able to register for classes that reach their capacity. Thank you.

Grazie!
