Figuring out what tool to use

I need help determining the best tools for me to use for a project. What I'm trying to do is automate a form. Currently, we are sending an editable PDF to a client, getting it back, and then manually filling in those details in Active Campaign. The form is quite long and complex, with multiple sections and a variety of different questions. The intention is to have the client fill out this form online, and then automatically populate their responses into Active Campaign. I have a WordPress website, and I already have a Zapier plan. That doesn't mean you have to use them for your solution; I just wanted you to know I have them at my disposal if needed. What should I do to accomplish this?

    Hi Kieran,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant. I'll do my best to help you until someone from the support team is available.

To automate your form process and integrate it with Active Campaign, you can create an online form using Jotform that clients can fill out directly on your WordPress website. Jotform supports complex forms with multiple sections and various question types, which suits your needs.

    Here’s how to do it:

    1. Create your form in Jotform with all the required sections and questions.
    2. Embed the form on your WordPress site using Jotform's WordPress integration plugin or embed code.
    3. Set up integration between Jotform and Active Campaign. Jotform offers direct integration with Active Campaign to automatically send form responses to your Active Campaign account.
    4. Use Zapier if you want to add more automation or custom workflows between Jotform and Active Campaign, since you already have a Zapier plan.

This setup will eliminate the need for sending editable PDFs and manual data entry, streamlining your workflow effectively.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Kieran,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I understand you want clients to complete a long, complex form online and have their answers automatically pushed into ActiveCampaign, replacing your current editable-PDF + manual entry process. You can do this in two straightforward ways. Let me walk you through them.

    1. In Form Builder, go to Settings → Integrations → ActiveCampaign.Figuring out what tool to use Image 1 Screenshot 40
    2. Search for and click ActiveCampaign from the result.Figuring out what tool to use Image 2 Screenshot 51
    3. Choose the Action (e.g., Create/Update Contact, add to List, add Tags/Deal) and map your form fields to ActiveCampaign fields.Figuring out what tool to use Image 3 Screenshot 62

If it’s your first time connecting an ActiveCampaign account, you will see the Base URL and API Key boxes directly along with the Authenticate button. Enter the credentials and authenticate accordingly.

Please click for steps to get API credentials.

If you currently use an editable PDF, import it via Smart PDF Forms, map the online fields to the PDF, and keep sending a filled PDF to the client while still pushing data to ActiveCampaign.

For detailed information and how to do it, you can read our article "How to import your own PDF with smart PDF forms".

Use Jotform to create the form, embed it on your WordPress site, and connect it to ActiveCampaign using Zapier. This will fully automate your process—no PDFs needed.
