Black Outdoor Adventurers (BOA) is a vibrant New York City-based community that brings together outdoor enthusiasts of color. Founded in response to a lack of diversity in outdoor spaces, BOA now boasts over 2,300 members who participate in a wide range of activities, from hiking and skiing to biking in Central Park. With a focus on inclusivity and connection, the group fosters a sense of belonging for individuals who are passionate about nature and adventure.

Challenge

Mina Okpi, founder and community manager of BOA, faced significant challenges in managing liability waivers for the group’s events. Many participants failed to complete their waivers in advance, necessitating last-minute form submissions at event sites, often in areas with spotty internet access. Additionally, the organization’s reliance on printed forms created inefficiencies in tracking and managing participant data, particularly for repeat attendees.
