Most recently, Craparotta sold his stake in his last company and was on the lookout for a new venture.
The entrepreneur saw an opportunity when he began investing in an indoor grower in Michigan. After meeting with his new investee, he realized it had yet to implement paperless quality management systems (QMS).
Having been in a similar position with his previous company, Craparotta saw a way to leverage his extensive knowledge of Jotform Enterprise and create a white-labeled QMS for a niche and highly regulated industry.
And so, Pointe A was born.
The old pen-and-paper workflows caused inefficiencies in a business where prices often fluctuate and profit margins can be thin. Additionally, the indoor growing industry is subject to high standards of compliance.
“Standards are from a regulatory agency in Michigan. So, there’s a lot of standards that go into managing an operation. [The quality management system] has been great because if you’re just publishing things without the subject matter expert looking at it, you can make some big errors.”
Pointe A is an app that houses a collection of processes and checklists, each with its own QR code. The QR codes are posted on the production floor to allow workers to easily access training materials and checklists on their devices.
Craparotta says the new workflow solution has given the company a solid quality control framework and created structure for workers:
“Implementing this helped [workers] them stay organized, and it helped give their workers a framework and a purpose, you know. They do a team huddle in the morning and get in front of that workflow board. They’ll explain where the resources are. Let’s say they need to watch a video on how to use a respirator. They can QR code that, and we can pop open the video inside Jotform Enterprise. Then they can watch a video and acknowledge that they’ve reviewed the equipment operating procedure.”
The forms from these QR codes are then sent to subject matter experts to check work and ensure quality.
“The person doing the task will scan the QR code. It’ll forward them to that form. They’ll look at the work instructions and put in the required information. Then, it emails the subject matter expert, and she or he can review it on their own time, or within 24 hours, and then put it into the main system.”

Joe and Jotform go way back
Pointe A isn’t Craparotta’s first venture with Jotform Enterprise. He started with Jotform in 2008 (when Jotform was only two years old!). Craparotta was tired of maintaining an IT closet for his business and needed an automated method to balance accounts for his warehouse company. So he moved to the cloud and found Jotform in the process.
“One of the most significant early benefits of adopting Jotform was transitioning from tedious manual paper reporting emailed daily to dynamic, guided digital forms tailored specifically for our managers and employees. These Jotforms seamlessly integrated into our comprehensive quality management system.”
It’s safe to say Craparotta saw the benefits of Jotform pretty early. But he was hooked when he found that automating his accounting processes with Jotform saved him an estimated $30,000 annually.
“We went from probably losing maybe $3,000 a year in cash that wasn’t accounted for to relatively no errors. So, I mean, that’s amongst 10 locations. So it was $30,000 a year in savings just on that alone.”
Craparotta upgraded to Jotform Enterprise in 2019 (when Jotform Enterprise was only one year old!) when he needed additional data security to handle high amounts of transactions and fight the wave of bots crawling the internet at the time.
“So I asked to go on Jotform Enterprise, which would give us our own server, essentially. It would only be our traffic hitting our forms. I made the decision to move it because I thought, you know, we can stomach the high amount of transactions on our own server better than we could as part of the bigger group at Jotform.”

All this to say, Craparotta likes Jotform, especially Jotform Enterprise. Over the last 17 years, he has leveraged his knowledge of Jotform to grow his businesses as Jotform has grown. Because Jotform Enterprise is constantly adding new features and improving existing ones, Craparotta has never needed to look elsewhere.
“I could see that Jotform Enterprise was taking care of all those issues as it grew up. So I wasn’t looking for the next best thing. Jotform Enterprise has been making constant improvements and could also stomach some of the challenges, like the attacks that might happen on an application while it’s on the internet. I could see that they were keeping a healthy uptime. And so I stayed with it.”
Jotform Enterprise’s integrations, customer support, and data compliance frameworks have allowed Craparotta to stay efficient and current in all his business ventures.
“I’m not a coder of any kind. I’ve had to make some adjustments where you can drop in some code to a form that helps change the attributes of it. I asked for some help, and you guys would quickly send back the code I needed,” he told us. “So, I think you’re doing a good job hiring the right people. They know how to program your product and find the answers that I’m asking.”
