Brand ambassadors are a great way to draw positive attention to your business. They’re a team of influencers, reviewers, or maybe just loyal customers who have good things to say about your product. Their task is to spread brand awareness using their own networks and social media.
When you’re selecting a team of brand ambassadors, it’s important to consider their experience with customer relationships and reviews as well as their marketing abilities.
Here are some interview questions that will help you get started on building a super brand ambassador team, and why they’re important to ask.

How long have you been using our products? What do you know about our products and brand message?
These questions are a useful way to gauge your potential brand ambassador’s relationship with your brand.
If you’re recruiting someone from your existing base of loyal customers, it’s important to understand how your brand plays a role in their everyday life and how they’ll relay this message to their audience. If you’re screening social media influencers, take a look at their content and aesthetics to make sure that your products fit their existing profile.
Are you active on social media? If so, which platforms do you use the most and why?
Social media channels are unquestionably one of the fastest growing and most effective ways to build customer relationships. Having a strong presence on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube shows that you understand your base and take the time to get to know them on a personal level.
When choosing a brand ambassador, assess what channels they’re using and how they could build on or fit in with your current social media strategies.
Who is your audience? Would they be a good fit for our brand? Why or why not?
Your brand ambassador should have an existing audience. This doesn’t mean you can only accept the highest-profile influencers with millions of followers, but when screening your potential brand partners, make sure they have a fan base that looks like a good fit for brand outreach.
Even social media accounts with thousands or just hundreds of followers can have good reach, depending on their niche and community.
How do you plan to spread awareness about our brand?
When choosing a partner, walk through their profile with them and figure out how your products will fit into their followers’ feeds. A successful brand ambassador will have a plan or outline for how they’ll seamlessly incorporate your brand into their posting schedule. And they’ll be able to explain how they’ll give their audience a chance to get to know your products from their point of view.
If you post a review or promo about one of our products and someone leaves a negative comment, how would you respond?
This is an important question to determine whether someone can foster better relationships with your customers. Remember what you’re looking for: an ambassador. Brand awareness is a two-way street, and a successful brand ambassador team is made of influencers, reviewers, and customer referral partners who have the communication skills and product knowledge to address any issues that may come up.
Keep in mind that no business is immune to negative reviews. They can be opportunities to build on customer relationships because they’re a chance to show that you care.
Now that you know what you’re looking for, you can get out there and build your super team of brand ambassadors. At Jotform, we make it easy for you to build your brand ambassador program. Check out our brand ambassador templates to take the next step in getting your brand out there.
