Over the past couple of months I have been developing a Jotform App to roll out to competitors at our upcoming National Rifle Championships - we anticipate between 20and 250 competitors.
I have really enjoyed the learning opportunity and have been reall happy with the look and feel of what I have done, until yesterday, when I realised that when do edits or additions the app - these are not automatically reflected at the end-users' devices.
I had hoped that I would be able to add important event updates and notices, and then send a push notification to the subscribed app users, pointing them to the newly added updates/notices etc. However, it would appear that the edits/additions are not automatically applied/seen by the end user.
Is there a way that I can "refresh" the content on end users' devices? if I can't then I am going to have to, very quickly sign up, pay, and develop an app with another platform.
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Let me help you with that:
Currently, Jotform Apps uses Progressive Web App (PWA) technology, which allows users to install the app on their devices or access it via web browsers. However, updates or edits made to the app content are not automatically refreshed on end users' devices in real-time.
To ensure your users see the latest updates, they may need to manually refresh the app or reopen it in their browser. Unfortunately, there is no built-in feature in Jotform Apps that automatically pushes content refreshes or updates to end users' devices immediately after edits.
You can still send push notifications to subscribed users to inform them about new updates or notices, but the app content itself will require a manual refresh by the users to reflect those changes.
If automatic real-time content refresh is a critical requirement for your app, you might need to consider alternative platforms that support this feature.
