Overnight information request form error

    Good morning,

    Every night we leave an app created on your site up for customers to use to reach out if there's interest. Over the past 2 months, we've seen repeated issues with the app upon arriving back at the store in the morning. We've had things like a smaller screen overlaying on top of the main app. That screen disappears if you move the mouse. We've had errors like the screenshot I've included. We've also had people start to fill out the app and then stop. When this happens it creates error messages that seem to only disappear when closing the app and reopening it. That's an issue, as the store is not staffed during these hours.

You can customize the splash screen by going to Settings, selecting Splash Screen in the left menu, and clicking Customize. Adjusting the background and font colors might help with display issues.

    For the error messages and app stability, it might be related to how the app handles incomplete submissions or session timeouts. Unfortunately, we don't have a direct solution for this in the knowledge base, but ensuring the app and browser are up to date and clearing any cache might help reduce these errors.

    We don't use the splash screen, as the app stays open on our page all night. I did take a look through the settings and nothing seemed off. I also cleared our cache, but there was very little saved. Would I be able to adjust the session time out settings? I'd be looking for it to clear all entered data with no error screens if it hadn't been touched in 10 minutes or so.

    Thanks for the additional information. Regarding your question about adjusting session timeout settings to clear entered data after 10 minutes of inactivity without showing error screens, unfortunately, Jotform does not currently offer a built-in feature to customize session timeouts or automatically clear form data after a period of inactivity.

    Sessions for logged-in users expire for security reasons, but for form users, the data remains until the form is submitted or the user manually clears it. There is no option to set the form to automatically reset or clear data after inactivity without user interaction.

    One possible workaround is to use the Save and Continue Later feature, which allows users to save progress and return later, but this does not clear data automatically after inactivity.

    If this is a critical requirement, you might consider custom development outside of Jotform or using third-party tools to manage session timeouts and data clearing.
