Hi Shannon,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. It looks like you're referring to this form, I can see that you're using an Input Table with the Program Expenditure Category listed as a dropdown field within each row. To get the sum of the amount based on the selected option in the category, you will need to create a conditional logic using the Update/Calculate Field option. Let me show you how:
- In Form Builder, click on the Settings tab in the orange navigation bar and select the Conditions tab on the left side menu.
- Next, click on the Add Conditions button and select the Update/Calculate Field option in the New Conditions menu.
- Then, set up the condition below and click on the Save button.
As for the Total Amount Requested From Event Budget, you just need to add all the Category Total requested in the Form Calculation widget. Let me show you how:
- Click on the Wand icon of the Form Calculation widget and click on the Add Field button.
- Then, select all the Category Total Request field in the Dropdown Menu, add a Plus Sign in between and click on the Save button.

Can you help me with the calculation? Currently, it is not adding up correctly. for example, once I enter one dropdown category, the next dropdown category is adding to the incorrect one.
Thanks

Hi Shannon,
Unfortunately, it is not possible to dynamically update the total for each option or row, as there is no specific price for each category from the dropdown. As a workaround, you can try adding multiple hidden Form Calculation widgets and multiple Input Tables for each row. Let me show you how to do it:
1. Add 10 Form Calculation Widgets and name them for each row from your Input Tables. Check out the sample screenshot below:
2. Add additional Input Tables for each category with one column, or 6 Input Tables for each category, See the sample screenshot below:
3. Next, click the Wand icon on each Form Calculation widget.
4. Click on the Add Field button, then add each of the columns that match to the Form Calculation widget row field, and click on the number to make it a string value.
5. Create additional Update/Calculation Field conditional logic. Below is the sample screenshot:
You can clone my clone form here to see all the field settings and conditions to see if this works for you.
