Heaven_Sent_PetsAsked on September 28, 2025 at 11:17 PM
I am building my form and using ChatGPT to help me since I have no IT knowledge and this is my first time using Jotform.
I've been trying for HOURS to get several things to work. I need help please.
I set up a helper field with this question: Is this a non-furry pet? It is not autofilling “Yes” like it's supposed to.
Here's my Update/Calculate condition that controls this, courtesy of ChatGPT:
Condition:IF “Type of Pet” Is Equal To
Fish
OR Bird
OR Horse
OR Other
DO: Update “Is this a non-furry pet?” → “Yes”
🟨 Make sure the value is added as a String/Text (not numeric)
I've looked over everything and it appears correct. This helper logic is supposed to correctly autofill "Yes," but it is not working. What do I do?

Hi Heaven_Sent_Pets,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. The reason why the condition is not working as expected is that, you included double quotes (" ") in Yes. If you remove the double quotes, it should work as expected. This is how to fix it:
- In Form Builder, select the Is this a non-furry pet?, and click on the Conditional Logic icon.
- Hover your mouse over the condition, then click on the Pencil icon.
- Remove the double quotes (" "), then click on Save. That's it.
Here's a screencast of the result:
