How can I change the approve and sign to require unanimous approval to proceed? It looks like it automatically goes with a majority and confusingly lets the first vote be a tie breaker. I don’t see any way to customize this.

Hi jotform_user926_jotform_user133,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, there are no forms associated with the email you used to contact us. Can you send me the link to your form so I can take a look for you? You can easily find your form's URL in Form Builder. Let me show you how:
- In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Publish.
- In the Quick Share tab, click on Copy Link in the Share With Link section.
Once you share the form URL with us, we’ll be able to help you better with this.

This is a general question before I go to the trouble of making the form. How do I configure the approve and sign element in a workflow to require unanimous approval instead of just a majority? And if there’s no way to do that, there should be. :) is there a workaround to do single approve and signs for each approver in parallel and fail if one person rejects?

Hi jotform_user926_jotform_user133,
Thanks for the clarification. Currently, the Approval and Sign element in Jotform’s Workflow does not support a built-in setting for requiring unanimous approval before moving forward. By default, if you have multiple approvers under one approval element, the system follows a majority rule, and in some cases, the first response can determine the outcome, which may appear as a tie-breaker behavior.
You can achieve a unanimous approval flow using a workaround by setting up individual Approve & Sign elements for each approver and adding a conditional branch element to route the approval to the designated condition for approval. To give you a quick overview, here's the flow of your possible Workflow workaround:
Since you don't have a specific workaround, I only showed you how it could achieve your workaround. To explain it, the conditional branch has been the first step in the Workflow. Then you can create the condition that will target the individual approvers, depending on your Workflow.
When a specific condition is met, the approval flow can be configured to automatically trigger only the assigned Approve & Sign step for a designated approver. This approach prevents the general approval request from being sent to all approvers unnecessarily. It helps streamline the workflow by ensuring that only the relevant individual is notified.
You can set this up using the Conditional Branch element in the Workflow. By defining conditions based on form input, you can control exactly which approver receives the request, allowing for more dynamic and efficient approval logic.
Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

nice to be able to configure what "approval" means in a group approve and
sign element. How many votes are required, what happens in a tie, etc...
thanks for your help.

Hi jotform_user926_jotform_user133,
Thanks for your feedback regarding the approval process in Jotform Workflows. We understand the value of having more control over group approvals, such as setting the number of votes required and handling tie situations. Your suggestion about enhancing the approval element to allow configuration of approval thresholds and tie handling is very valuable.
On the other hand, we've got a guide here How to Request a Group Approval With Jotform Workflows, for additional information for your workaround. While the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
