I created a form for a residential lease. I updated some information on the form but i am not able to get the edits to save? I changed dates and rental amount.

    Hi Cheryl,

I'm an AI assistant. I'll do my best to help you until someone from the support team is available.

It sounds like your form edits are not saving properly. Let me walk you through how to ensure your changes are saved correctly:

    1. Open your form in Form Builder and make the necessary changes to the dates and rental amount.
    2. After making edits, be sure to click the Save button at the top right to save your changes.
    3. To verify your edits, preview the form to see if the updated information appears correctly.

If you are trying to edit a submission rather than the form itself, you can update submission data directly in Jotform Inbox or PDF Editor. Here’s how to edit submissions in Inbox:

    1. Go to Inbox and select the submission you want to edit.
    2. Click the Three Dots icon at the top-right and choose Edit.
    3. Make your changes and click Submit to save the updated submission.

I followed these steps, however i do not see a save button. This save button would be on the build tab correct?

    Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I checked your form, and it looks like the dates and the price have been updated successfully. Take a look at the screenshots below:

And here's the screenshot of the price:

Smart PDF Form: Editing the original PDF document connected Screenshot 41If these are incorrect dates and price, I recommend clearing your browser's caches first before trying again? If the same thing happens, can you try using other browser's or Incognito? But, if you're referring to the original PDF, note that you cannot update it within Jotform.

You need to update your own PDF, and then import it again as a Smart PDF Form. If that’s not quite what you’re looking for, can you share a bit more info so I can help you better?

After we hear back from you, we’ll know what’s going on and how to help.

Yes i see my changes on the form not the original pfd. When i go to the publish tab and try to fill in the form, it is still showing dates from 2017 rather than 2025. I cleared my cache and didnt help.

    Hi Cheryl,

To clarify, the original PDF template connected to your Smart PDF Form cannot be updated directly within Jotform. Any changes you make in the Form Builder will update the online form but will not automatically update the original PDF template.

To update the original PDF template, you need to edit the PDF file outside of Jotform using a PDF editor, then re-import it into Jotform as a new Smart PDF Form. This process will allow you to have an updated PDF template that matches your form changes. Here’s what you can do:

    1. Edit your original PDF file using a PDF editor to update the dates, rental amount, and any other changes.
    2. Import the updated PDF back into Jotform to create a new Smart PDF Form.
    3. Map the form fields as needed to ensure they align with your updated PDF.

For more detailed guidance, refer to our Smart PDF Forms guide.

Reach out again if you have any other questions.

So i cant just edit my form, why would editing the form even be an option? Oh gosh. I think easier just to use a paper lease.

    Hi Cheryl,

Yes, that's right. You can't edit the original PDF directly in Jotform Smart PDF Forms because it's a static, uploaded document. To make changes, you must use an external PDF editor, like Adobe Acrobat, to modify the PDF, and then re-upload the updated PDF to your Jotform form.
