Hi Jotform,
I'm testing a form I created and am using the Paypal gateway. Every time I test the form and choose the Payment method of "Debit or Credit Card" I get an error message saying "Payment is not eligible for card fields" I have the payment type set as "user defined amount" and am populating it from a form calculation widget. I've worked a lot with the Podo and am getting no where. My form number is 250265065467055. Can you please help?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Linda,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant. I'll do my best to help you until someone from the support team is available.
The error "Payment is not eligible for card fields" usually happens when there's an issue with the PayPal integration setup. Since you have the payment type set as "user defined amount" and are using a calculation widget, please ensure the PayPal integration is properly connected and the amount is correctly passed to PayPal.
Here’s how to troubleshoot:
- Verify your PayPal integration connection in the form settings.
- Clear your browser cache and cookies or try a different browser to rule out caching issues.
- Confirm that the calculation widget is correctly calculating and passing the amount to the payment field.
We also have a guide on mastering payment integrations that might help you further.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,

Hi Linda,
I checked your form, and it seems that your PayPal Business account is not yet connected with your form. Check out my screenshot below:
Let me show you how to connect your PayPal Business account with the payment connection:- In Smart PDF Forms, click on the Credit Card icon on the upper right side of the page.
- From the Payment Properties on the right, click on the Plug in icon.
- If you have connected your PayPal Business account before, select the PayPal connection you have created and click on Use on the lower right side of the page.
- If you haven't made any connections, click on Add New Connection.
- Select PayPal and click on Next.
- Enter your preferred Connection Name.
- Click on the Connect button and connect your PayPal Business account.
- Once connected, click on Save.
- From Payment Connections, select the PayPal connection you have set up.
- Lastly, click on Use on the lower right side of the page.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Hi Jotform,
Thank you for your reply. I do have an active PayPal connection set up. I wasn't getting the correct total in my PayPal checkout, so I addressed that issue and am now getting the correct total. Tonight I processed an entry connected to PayPal, received my email confirmation and a PayPal receipt in my email. This was successful when I used the PayPal checkout Debit or Credit Card option so that works.
The issue still remains that when I click in the circle right under "Payment Methods" that says Debit or Credit Card I get the error saying "Payment is not eligible for credit cards". Does anyone know why I may be getting this and how to correct it? Thank you in advance.
Linda

Hi Linda,
I cloned your form, but couldn’t replicate the issue, so I created a ticket and escalated this to our Developers. We’ll circle back with an update when there is one.

Hello,
Wre are sorry for the issue you experienced.
The issue is about your PayPal account status. PPCP Advanced Credit Card is only available for verified Business accounts, so if you toggle on the Show Debit or Credit Card option, ensure that you have a verified PayPal Business account. Otherwise, your form will display an error message that says Hosted Fields Are Not Eligible. Our guide on PayPal: Activate Business Account has all the details.
You can also see the details in the user guide below.

Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. Our club does not have a Union PayCard or an International credit card. We have no interest in obtaining these cards as we are a small club and want to offer the option to pay online to exhibitors entering our event. The issue is if I don't select the option Debit or Credit cards on the payment properties I don't get that option on the paypal checkout that says "Debit or Credit Card".
Is the Payment method "Debit or Credit Card" directly under Payment methods different than the one on the Paypal Debit or Credit card that is offered as an option on the black paypal checkout bar.
These seem like 2 different options but the connection form button needs to be selected to get either of them.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Jotform,
I verified with paypal that our paypal account is completly set up and correct and was told it is. I then set up the old Paypal standard connection as a second connection, tested it using the form preview and it worked. I then switched my forms connections back to the paypal connection I originally set up and am able to use the form and get paypal's pay with Debit or Credit card option on the paypal checkout and no longer have the "Debit or Credit Card" showing under payment methods. I tested this again using form preview and it works as I got the email verifications from Paypal and Jotform.
I'm not exactly sure why but it's working now.
Thank You
Linda
