    Hello Jotform Support,

I created a jotform link for event guests to register. When the guest registers, it shows an error message of "Whoops there was an error." On my end (the administrator) it does go through and send me an email with information, however, I am concerned that the guest(s) will see this message and continue to retry thus making this a frustrating process. Please advise.

    Thank you.

    Hi Development,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant. I'll do my best to help you until someone from the support team is available.

Regarding the error message "Whoops there was an error" that guests see while you receive submissions and emails successfully, this issue can sometimes be caused by temporary glitches such as caching problems or network interruptions on the user's end.

Let me help you with that:

    1. Clear your form cache: This can resolve issues caused by outdated cached data. You can clear the form cache from your Jotform account settings.
    2. Check the form URL: Ensure guests are accessing the form via the correct Jotform domain (e.g., jotform.com, jotform.us) depending on your region.
    3. Test the form: Try submitting the form yourself from a different browser or device to see if the error persists.

If the problem continues, it may be helpful to check your form's email logs in your account history to confirm email delivery and identify any errors.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Best regards,
    Jotform Support

    Hi Development_Department_developm,

Is the issue happening after they clicked the form link, while they're filling out the form, or after they submitted it? To test this, I've cloned your form and made a test submission, and I was able to replicate the message showing on the screenshot below:

I dug into this and noticed it's related to the link you added to the Thank You Page. Can you tell us more details about this link? When I also copied the link and pasted it into another browser, the same message showed:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
    2. Click on Thank You Page in the menu on the left side of the page.
    3. Look into the box under Enter URL.
    4. Try to copy and paste it to another browser to test.

When we hear back from you, we’ll be ready to move forward.

The error happens when guests submit the form.

In the past, we have always been able to copy the link and embed to a link into the words (for example) GUEST REGISTRATION that we send out from our email address not from Jotform.

    Hi Development_Department_developm,

Your form was not able to redirect to the external link after submission due to error 500 on the target URL. See the screenshot below for reference:

To fix the issue, you just need to make sure the redirection external link is a valid URL or working. You can always test and check if an external URL is working by using your browser.

I understand that, in the past, you're able to copy the link and embed the link into words (for example, GUEST REGISTRATION) that you send out from your email address. But keep in mind that, embedding the link into words is different to redirecting to an external link. You can click on an embedded link (the text/word with link), and you will be redirected to the link. While in redirection to external URL link, there's no text/word to click.

Reach out again if there’s anything else we can help you with.
