Dynamic Options in Orderable List Widget

Is it possible to pull text values from other fields to fill the options in the "Orderable List" widget? Additionally, is it possible to eliminate options in the widget based on an input being equal to a certain value. In my example, I am looking for users to "Approve" or "Disapprove" applicants for a Board of Trustees. The "Applicants" are listed in "Header" fields within the JotForm. Users score "Approved" applicants. Finally, users rank the scored, approved applicants using the "Orderable List".

    Hi Al-Anon,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant. I'll do my best to help you until someone from the support team is available.

Regarding your questions about the Orderable List widget:

    • It is not possible to dynamically pull text values from other fields to fill the options in the Orderable List widget. You need to manually enter the list items in the widget settings.
    • There is no built-in feature to eliminate options based on input values within the Orderable List widget itself.

For your use case of approving or disapproving applicants and then ranking approved ones, you might consider using conditional logic to show or hide fields based on approval status and then manually set the Orderable List options accordingly.

Let us know if you need further clarification.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Best regards,

    Hi Al-Anon,

The Orderable List widget doesn’t support dynamic input from other fields, so it’s not possible to auto-populate options using Header fields or similar inputs. All list items must be manually defined within the widget settings.

Also, the widget can’t conditionally filter or remove options based on user responses, such as excluding Disapproved applicants, so any filtering would need to be handled outside the widget using conditional logic.

Jotform's Conditions feature lets you show questions based on the answers that people gave. Let me show you how to set it up:

    1. On your My Forms page, hover your mouse over your form and click on Edit Form.

    2. In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu and drag-drop the fields you want to use as follow-up questions (I used Short Text fields in this example).

    3. Click on the Type a Question text and change it to the question you want to use.

    4. Now, right-click on the fields, and in the menu that opens, click on Hide.

Now, let's set up the conditions:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.

    2. Click on Conditions on the left of the page.

    3. Now, click on Add a New Condition and then click on Show/Hide Field.

    4. Set the conditions like you see below:

Set up Conditions for all of the choices for your question. Check out the screencast below to see how your form will work after setting up the Conditions:
