In an "app" i have the ability to add the option for people to download a document. Is there a way to add that ability on a "Form"?

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Let me help you with that:

Currently, Jotform forms do not have a built-in feature to allow users to directly download documents from the form itself like an app might. However, you can achieve a similar effect by adding a link to the document within your form. You can do this by:

    1. Adding a Text or Paragraph field to your form.
    2. Inserting a hyperlink to the document hosted online (e.g., on your website, cloud storage, or file sharing service).
    3. Users can then click the link to view or download the document.

This way, you provide the option for form users to download documents while filling out the form.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Paul,

Here’s how to set up a hyperlink in your form:

    1. Open your form in Form Builder.
    2. Add a Paragraph element by clicking Add Element and dragging Paragraph to your form.
    3. Edit the Paragraph by clicking it, then type your message.
    4. Highlight the text you want to turn into a link.
    5. Click the link icon (chain symbol) in the editor toolbar.
    6. Paste the URL you want to link to, set the display text, and choose if it opens in the same window or a new tab.
    7. Click OK to save the link.

Your link will now be clickable in the form.

    Hi Paul,

To create a link to your document, first upload the document to a file-sharing service or your website to get a public URL. Then, use that URL to create a hyperlink in your form's Paragraph element as explained earlier.

This way, users can click the link to access or download your document.

    Hi Paul,

Once you go to the document you'd like to share, you would have to find the feature that can provide you a link you can share. For example in a google doc, on the top right corner there is a share button. You can use that to set the permissions on who can view the document.

Once you have that link, you can use the paragraph element in the form builder. Then while in the paragraph element editor, towards the top right you'll see an icon that looks like 2 chains. Hover over that and you'll see "insert or edit link". Once you click that you can paste your document link into the URL field, and you can create a name for the download in "text to display". Example "download pdf".

    Hope that helps!
