Hello, I recently paid a yearly subscription only to find out that the photo widget is not properly working on the three Samsung tablets I just bought. I have done everything that the AI agent has suggested, but I'm wondering if it is a compatibility issue. Please get back to me when you can.

    Hi stormschenk,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I understand that the photo widget is not working properly on your Samsung tablets despite following the AI agent's suggestions, and you are concerned it might be a compatibility issue. Let me help you with that:

The Take Photo widget in Jotform Mobile Forms is designed to allow users to take and upload photos directly within the form using a built-in camera app. It supports both front and rear cameras and is optimized for mobile devices. If the widget is not working on your Samsung tablets, here are a few things to check:

    1. Ensure you are using the Jotform Mobile Forms app: The Take Photo widget works best within the Jotform Mobile Forms app rather than a mobile browser.
    2. Update the app and your device: Make sure the Jotform Mobile Forms app and your Samsung tablets' operating system are up-to-date.
    3. Widget settings: Check the widget settings in your form to confirm the camera facing option (front or rear) is set correctly.
    4. Permissions: Verify that the app has permission to access the camera on your tablets.
    5. Test on other devices: If possible, test the form on other mobile devices to see if the issue is specific to the Samsung tablets.

If after these checks, the widget still does not work properly, it could be related to specific device compatibility or software limitations on those Samsung tablets.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Thank you for the advice. Here is what I found

1.) Yes, I am using the JotForm Mobile App and not the mobile browser.

2.) Yes, both my samsung tablets and my jotform app are up to date on software.

3.) All of my widget settings are to set for a back facing view, which is what I want.

4.) I have redownloaded the app several times and given permissions for Jotform to use the camera and photos.

5.) The camera function works on my Macbook Pro, and my iPhone. But not the tablets.

    Hi stormschenk,

Can you share with us the model of the Samsung Tablets? Also, share with us a screen recording of what’s happening so we can try to replicate it on our end. You can share the video recording on any public sharing platform like Google Drive or Dropbox, or you can simply use Loom to record the video and share the video link with us.

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to help you with this.

When I select the photo widget it is responding by showing me that I selected the button. However, it is not redirecting me to a website, or asking me for permission to use the camera. When it is working, it asks for permission every time, but on the tablets it just asked upon download of the app.

    Hi stormschenk,

It seems that there's a compatibility issue with the Jotform mobile app and your device model. For us to confirm that, we also need to try your form on different devices. Can you try using a different device to see if it's going to work there for us to investigate it further?

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to help you with this.
