GA4 Tracking via Embedded Forms

    Hello,

We had GA4 tracking setup for Jotform via Google Tag Manager and we noticed that it's not collecting any data. I read through the documentation and it mentions how the tracking will only work via source code implementation:

Is there really no way to do this tracking via embed?

    Hi SourceMarketing,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Based on the documentation and setup process for Google Analytics 4 with Jotform, the tracking through Google Tag Manager (GTM) only works when the form is embedded using the source code of the form on your website. This is because the tracking requires specific configurations and triggers that rely on the full source code implementation rather than just embedding the form via iframe or other embed methods.

Here’s a brief overview of the setup:

    • Get the full source code of your Jotform form and embed it on your website.
    • Set up Google Tag Manager with the necessary variables, triggers, and tags for GA4 tracking.
    • Install GTM code on your website pages where the form is embedded.
    • Test your setup using GTM Preview mode and GA4 DebugView to ensure events are tracked correctly.

Unfortunately, if you embed the form using methods other than the full source code (like iframe embed), GA4 tracking via GTM will not collect data properly.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

It sounds like this is a Jotform specific limitation instead of embedding limitation. Are there any plans to implement GA4 tracking via embed as well?

    Hi SourceMarketing,

While the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.

    Hi,

That would be great, we're using the embed functionality due to limitations in our platform, and we chose Jotform for its intuitive form building tools, but if we can't get the analytic tracking we need, we'll have to look for alternative solutions in our case.

    Thanks,
