How to Change Payment Method from PayPal to Credit Card

Cannot update my payment. it has always renewed automatically. Not sure what has changed
Jotform takes me to PayPal with no other option for adding payment. Takes me in a loop. I need to update my subscriptions.
I don’t know why if it was through PayPal that it wouldn’t already automatically renew. This has never happened before

    Hi Jen Sussman,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant. I'll do my best to help you until someone from the support team is available.

It seems like your subscription payment update is redirecting you to PayPal in a loop, which is causing the issue with automatic renewal. Here’s how you can resolve this:

To update your payment method or manage your subscription:

    1. Log in to your PayPal account.
    2. Go to the gear icon (settings) in the upper-right corner.
    3. Select Payments, then Manage automatic payments.
    4. Find Jotform in the list of automatic payments and cancel the subscription if needed.
    5. After canceling, you can update your payment method directly on Jotform's Billing page: Go to Billing, then select Manage Payment Methods.
    6. Add a new payment method and set it as primary.

If your payment is processed through FastSpring, you will be redirected to FastSpring's subscription management page where you can add or update payment methods such as credit/debit cards, Google Pay, or Amazon Pay.

This process should help you break the loop and update your subscription payment successfully.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Jen Sussman,

Since your subscription is no longer listed in any subscription list, it indicates that the automatic renewal may have been canceled or the subscription has expired. To update your subscription and payment method, you will need to create a new subscription.

    Here’s how to proceed:

    1. Log in to your Jotform account.
    2. Go to the Billing page at https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/billing.
    3. Select a subscription plan that fits your needs and proceed to subscribe again.
    4. During the subscription process, add or update your payment method as needed.

If you encounter any issues during this process or need further assistance with your account status, please provide more details so we can assist you better.

It doesn’t say I need to subscribe again on Jotform, it says I need to update my payment

    Hi Jen Sussman,

Thank you for the clarification. Since Jotform is prompting you to update your payment rather than subscribe again, it suggests that your subscription is still active but the payment method on file needs to be updated.

Here’s how to update your payment method on Jotform:

    1. Log in to your Jotform account.
    2. Go to the Billing page by visiting https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/billing.
    3. Click on Manage Payment Methods.
    4. Add a new payment method (credit/debit card or PayPal) and set it as your primary payment method.
    5. Ensure the new payment method is saved and active for your subscription.

If you are redirected to PayPal during this process and experience a loop, please try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser or device to update your payment.

This should allow you to update your payment without needing to resubscribe. If the issue persists, please provide any error messages or screenshots you encounter for further assistance.

    Hi Jen Sussman,

Since your PayPal subscription is no longer listed and you are stuck in a loop when trying to update your payment on Jotform, it suggests that the automatic payment setup with PayPal might have been canceled or expired, but your Jotform subscription is still active and requires an updated payment method.

Here’s what you can do to resolve this issue:

    1. Log in to your Jotform account.
    2. Go to the Billing page at https://www.jotform.com/myaccount/billing.
    3. Click on Manage Payment Methods.
    4. Add a new payment method, either a credit/debit card or PayPal, and set it as your primary payment method.
    5. If you are redirected to PayPal and experience a loop, try clearing your browser cache or use a different browser or device to update your payment method.

If the PayPal subscription is not found in your PayPal account, it means the automatic payment was canceled on their side, so updating the payment method directly on Jotform is necessary to continue your subscription without interruption.

Additionally, ensure that your PayPal account has Instant Payment Notification (IPN) enabled, as this helps Jotform confirm payments properly. You can enable IPN in your PayPal account settings under Website Payments by specifying the notification URL as https://ipn.jotform.com/ipns/paypal.php and enabling IPN messages.

Give these steps a try to update your payment method and resolve the renewal issue.

    Hi Jen,

Unfortunately, you can't switch directly from PayPal to a credit card for your payment method. You need to downgrade your account back to the Starter plan. Then, you need to cancel the subscription from your PayPal account. Once you cancel it from your PayPal account, you will have the option to use the credit card when you resubscribe to the plan. Let me show you how to upgrade your Jotform account:

    1. On your My Forms page, hover your mouse over your Profile Image/Avatar icon, and click on it.

    2. In the window that opens, click on Settings.

    3. Under the Billing tab, click on Change Plan.

    4. Click on the Downgrade button to switch to the Starter (Free) Plan.

Then, you'll see a pop-up window with some extra information about the downgrade. Just follow those instructions to continue with canceling your plan.
