Sending signature requests via API

Hello! I'm looking at alternatives to Dropbox Sign API. I've previously used the Dropbox Sign API to automatically send signature requests to users, which will send them an email, and also fire off a webhook when they complete the signature request. Is this something that Jotform can do? If so, would mind steering me to the documentation online about this feature -- I've been having a heck of a time finding it on my own! Thank you in advance for your time and consideration!

    Sincerely,

    Josh

    Hi Josh,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant. I'll do my best to help you until someone from the support team is available.

Yes, Jotform can send signature requests via API similar to Dropbox Sign. With Jotform Sign, you can create documents that are UETA and ESIGN compliant and send them for signature. You can automate sending signature requests and track the signing process.

Here’s how you can get started:

    1. Add an e-signature to your form by selecting the Signature element in the Form Builder. You can also use various e-signature widgets available.
    2. Use Jotform Sign to create and send PDF documents for signature. You can manage recipients, customize emails, set reminders, and track document status.
    3. Automate signature requests and workflows using Jotform Workflows, which allow you to require signatures as part of approval processes and send documents for signature automatically.
    4. Use the Jotform API to integrate and automate sending signature requests and receiving webhook notifications when signatures are completed.

You can find detailed documentation and guides on these features on the Jotform website, including how to add e-signatures, use Jotform Sign, set up workflows, and work with the API.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Josh,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. While Jotform does offer Jotform Sign for sending documents and collecting legally binding e-signatures, the current functionality is more limited via API compared to Dropbox Sign. At this time, you cannot fully automate the creation and sending of Sign documents via API alone.

However, you can use standard Jotform forms with a signature element and automate:

    • Email notifications when forms are submitted,
    • Webhook triggers after submission,
    • Prefilled links and conditional workflows.

If you're looking for webhook functionality tied to signature completion, that works well when using standard forms with signature fields, but not for Jotform Sign documents via API.
