I am trying to extract data from a column to export to excel - however the data is embedded with the column and we are finding it difficult to work out how to extract the embedded data - maybe into its own column or do you have any thoughts on how to do this.
Refer to the table below and the column I am referring to is entitled Property, Contents, Revenue and Stock -
Thanks

Hi Peter,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I understand you're trying to extract specific embedded data from the Property, Contents, Revenue, and Stock columns in your Jotform Table. Since that column likely stores grouped data from a multi-field element like an Input Table, Configurable List, or Multiple Text Fields, it all gets saved in a single cell, making it harder to separate for export.
Since the data is being collected through a Spreadsheet widget, all the values across columns A to P are stored together in one cell per submission, which can make it challenging to isolate specific information during export.
Just to clarify, are you primarily looking to extract specific financial values, such as the Replacement Value of Buildings, Contents, Stock, or Gross Revenue, into their own separate columns for easier reporting? Once we know your goal, we can guide you on how to split that data in Excel or suggest a more structured alternative in your form.
After we hear back from you, we’ll have a better idea of what’s going on and how to help.

It's interesting how techniques continue to grow with growing tech demands. For those dealing with academic research or data-heavy projects, getting the right can really make a difference in understanding and applying these methods effectively.

Hi Jefferson
Appreciate the prompt response
I am a new Jotform user so some of the nuances are a bit beyond me ... but I am trying :)
In essence I would like to extract the following from the Jotform data and convert into an excel spedsheet - with these titles being the colimn headings
District No.
Club Name
Address of PropertyPostcode
Description / Occupation
Floors
Walls
Roof
Security
Fire Protection
Replacement Value of Buildings ($)
Replacement Value of Contents ($)
Replacement Value of Stock ($)
Total Sum Insured Building & Contents ($)
12 Months Annual Gross Revenue ($)
Loss of Rent ($)
Combined Section 1 & 2 Total ($)
This is where I need help - how do I extract the data for these headings from Jotform into Excel and your question "Just to clarify, are you primarily looking to extract specific financial values, such as the Replacement Value of Buildings, Contents, Stock, or Gross Revenue, into their own separate columns for easier reporting? Once we know your goal, we can guide you on how to split that data in Excel" is correct
Standing by with thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,
To my understanding, you want to separate each data from the Spreadsheet widget to separate columns in the Tables. Unfortunately, this is not possible with the Tables. I suggest, after downloading the submissions as Excel, you can split the data from Google Sheets by using the split function. You can check out this guide to learn more about that. Now, let me show you how to download your submissions as Excel:
- In Tables, select the submissions that you want to download.
- On the upper right side of the page, click on Download All and select Download as Excel.
After downloading the submissions as Excel, you can now split the columns in Google Sheets.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
