Looking to use Jotform for several things and one of them being a Project Mgmt tool.

It looks like it would work except for one field i dont see that would be needed, a comments/conversation type notes field, where you can enter notes and hit enter/submit and it adds them, and you keep doing that, each time it adds the notes and timestamps them. It would be a way for users to continually update the project.

Is there a way to add this type of field?

    Hi mjk2day,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Regarding your need for a comments/conversation type notes field in Jotform to use as a project management tool, there isn't a single field that works exactly as you described (where you continuously add notes with timestamps in one field).

However, you can achieve a similar functionality using Jotform Inbox. In Jotform Inbox, you and your collaborators can add comments and replies to each submission. Each comment is timestamped and can be viewed and replied to by anyone with access. This allows for ongoing conversation and updates related to each project entry.

You can easily add comments to your submissions in Jotform Inbox. You'll be able to see the comments at the bottom of the submissions page. Let me show you how to set it up:

    1. On your My Forms page, select your form and click on Inbox on the right side of the page.
    2. On the Inbox page, click on the Comment button on the top-right side of the page.
    3. Type your comments in the pop-up that opens at the bottom of the page, and click on the Comment button under the comment field.

You'll be able to see the comments that you added at the bottom of the page:

Anyone with collaborator access can reply to comments, making it easy to keep a running conversation with timestamps.

If you want to add notes or descriptions directly in Jotform Tables, you can also add notes to tabs or columns for context, but these are not designed for ongoing timestamped comments.

Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks but we would need to be able to add the notes/comments right from the submissions table, it would be too inefficient to always be moving back and forth between them.

I noticed you can right click a field from the table and enter a comment and it will work like i need but you can only see that conversation from the table, if you click on the submission to view it, it shows the field you were adding all the comments to but it doesnt show the comments.

Is there a way to have it show them?

    Hi mjk2day,

Adding a Short Text column to the Tables will not sync the comments made on the cells. In order to add the comment on your Short Text column, you can edit the cell directly and it will show when viewing the submission data. Take a look at the screencast below to see my results: Comments field Image 1 Screenshot 40 However, this doesn't show the timestamp when the comment was added, unlike the cell comment and inbox comment feature. Another way to show both submission data and comment section in a single page is to use Jotform Boards. It's really easy to set up. Let me show you how:

    1. In Jotform Tables, click on the Add Tab at the top of the page next to your tabs.
    2. In the window that opens, click on Boards, then click on Next.
    3. Set up your board and start customizing it.
    4. Hover your mouse on the task and click the Three Dot icon, then choose View task.

Take a look at the screenshot below to see how it works:Comments field Image 3 Screenshot 62Give it a try and reach out again if you have any other questions.
