I am trying to create a form that is like a "personality quiz" for our volunteers to learn what kind of school they are working with. I have A,B,C,D,E options assigned a value of 1. The form is set to calculate which letter receives the most points.
The issue comes with the last question. This question is multiple choice: "What other types of activities would this school support". Each question should again, add a point for whatever category it belongs in (A,B,C,D,E). However, some choices count for more than one category (For example, the first Choice should add a point to the A bucket and the B bucket. I can't figure out how to make this work. Any help is appreciated!

Hi afsusa,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I cloned your form and saw that the last field question of What other types of activities would this school support have assigned value for Short Text elements added at the bottom of your form. Can you confirm if you want to add those value from the added value in the short text elements instead of the individual numbering?
If not, can you explain a bit more about the issue, so I can get a better idea of what's happening?
After we hear back from you, we’ll have a better idea of what’s going on and how to help.

Yes I would like them to be added rather than individual numbers! Thank you. The end goal is to have those summed up values in 7A, 7B, etc. to then be reflected in A,B,C,D, and E calculation widgets at the bottom.
I just changed the choices on my form on this question to reflect the categories they should add a "point" to. Hopefully that helps!
An issue I'm running into is pictured below. I tried to set it up where if I selected "They would let us have a table at an event", it would add a point to 7A and 7B. This seems to work! The problem happens when I make another selection. I also selected the last option: "I have no idea if they would or would not...".
When this choice is selected, its supposed to send a point to 7D and 7E. However, it just adds another point to 7A and 7B, and no points to 7D and 7E. I'm unsure what errors I made when setting up the conditions and do not know how to proceed.
Thank you again for your help!

Hi afsusa,
If you use the multiple choice element, you won't be able to extract the selected option's value and pass it to the short text elements. This is why you're receiving numeric values that can't be added together. As a workaround, you need to use the Input Table element instead of the multiple choice element. Additionally, you'll need to replace the short text elements in fields 7A–7E with the Form Calculation widget. This way, the values from the input table can be passed to the widget based on the selected option. Let me walk you through it:
First, let's remove all the short text elements from 7A-7E fields:
1. In the Form Builder, press CTRL or Command and select all the Short Text elements from fields 7A-7E.
2. Click on Delete on the top right side of the page.
3. Then, click on the Add Element menu on the left side of the page.
4. Under the Widgets tab, enter Form Calculation in the search bar, and drag and drop five widgets to your form as a replacement for the removed short text element fields for 7A-7E.
Make sure to add five Form Calculation widgets to your form to replace the short text elements for fields 7A–7E.
The next step is to add an Input Table element to replace the multiple choice elements. Let me show you how to set it up:
1. While in Form Builder, click on the Add Element menu on the left side of the page.
2. Under the Basic tab, scroll down the list and choose the Input Table field.
3. Now, just drag and drop it to your form.
4. Click on the Gear icon on the right side of the input table to open the Input Table Properties.
5. Under the General tab, enter the Field Label.
6. Under the Fields tab, select the Checkbox in the Input Type.
7. In the Rows field, enter all the options.
8. Then, in the Columns field, simply enter Select all that apply.
9. Next, go to the Options tab.
10. In the Calculation Values, enter 1 value for all the options.
Now, we'll set up the correct calculation from the 7A-7E form calculation widgets. Let me show you how:
1. In the Form Builder, click on the Wand icon on the right side of the widget to open Widget Settings.
2. Click on the Add Field button and select all the designated options from the Input Table to be added to the 7A-7E fields. Make sure to add the Plus icon in between the options.
3. Click on Save at and you're done.
Repeat the same steps for the remaining widgets of the 7A-7E fields, and be sure to select all the designated options to be extracted from the input table into each widget. Additionally, you'll need to replace all the Short Text elements with Form Calculation widgets for questions 1–6. Just follow the same steps outlined earlier for replacing a Short Text element with a Form Calculation widget. I'll show you the screenshots of the replacements:
Next, we’ll need to update the conditions linked to questions 1–6 so that the field values are copied into the newly added Form Calculation widgets (which replaced the Short Text elements). Let me walk you through it:
1. In the Form Builder, click on the Condition icon on the right side of the Single Choice element question.
2. Hover your mouse over the set condition and click on the Pencil icon.
3. In the To field of the condition, select the newly added form calculation widget for their designation, click on Save, and you're done.
Repeat these same steps for all other conditions assigned to the Single Choice fields for questions 1–6. Lastly, fix the formula in the fields A-E and add the newly added form calculation widgets (formerly short text elements).
Here’s the result after passing the values into each Form Calculation widget for the Single Choice questions (1–6) and the Input Table in question 7:
Here's the result of the input table element replacement for the multiple choice question 7:
Then, here’s the result of the overall total, extracted from questions 1–7 and passed into fields A–E:
Here's my cloned form. You can also clone the form and use it as the main copy, since there are no submissions yet on your form. We've got a guide here on how to clone a form.
Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.
