Will editing an Integrated Google Spreadsheet break the connection?

    Hello,

My form https://form.jotform.com/240775788859178 has an integration set up with Google Sheets. At some point after we started collecting submissions, we edited the form and added a new "Last Name" field. That new last name field automatically populates in the linked Google Sheet towards the far-right, as the last column in the spreadsheet. However, we want it to appear further towards the left in the Google Sheet, next to "First Name," for organizational purposes.

Is it possible to edit the order of submission fields and their corresponding columns in a Google Sheet without breaking the integration with Jotform? The spreadsheet already has a lot of submissions, and we do not want to create a new form or new Google Sheet for this form, if possible.

    Thank you,

    Natalia

    Hi Natalia,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I understand that you want to change the order of the columns in your Google Sheet that is integrated with your form, specifically moving the new "Last Name" field next to the "First Name" field. Unfortunately, while you can edit the data in Google Sheets, changes to the order of columns may affect the integration with Jotform. Here are some key points to consider:

    • Changes in your Google Sheets spreadsheet do not affect the entries in your Jotform.
    • Renaming column headings in Google Sheets may break the integration, and you would need to redo the integration in Jotform to fix it.
    • Adding filters in Google Sheets can stop the spreadsheet from updating.

To maintain the integration, it is generally recommended not to change the order of columns in the linked Google Sheet. If you decide to proceed with the change, be aware that you may need to reconnect the integration afterward to ensure that it continues to function properly.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
