Adding a Barcode Scanner to my Jotform App

    Hello,

I am working on an app to inform people about the use cases and side effects of over-the-counter drugs. In doing so, I would like to add a barcode scanner to my app that would allow people to scan the barcode of whatever drug they are trying to buy and be able to see some information about that drug. When I tried to add the barcode scanner widget to the app, it didn't pop up. How do I add this to my app?

    Hi rward3595,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. The Barcode Scanner widget is supported in Jotform Apps, but with a key detail: it only works when you add a Form to your app that contains the Barcode Scanner. You can't add the Barcode Scanner directly as a standalone element in the App Builder because it needs to be part of a form.

Just to clarify, are you looking to scan barcodes directly within the app interface, or would embedding a form with the scanner meet your needs?

After we hear back from you, we’ll have a better idea of what’s going on and how to help.

I was looking to scan barcodes directly within the app instead of embedding a form within my app. I will take a look at how embedding a form within my app works and see if that will work for what I am trying to do.
