Update form connected to smart pdf - WITHOUT access to the original pdf

    My issues:

    ·      I have just been given access to our corporate account and am responsible for the maintenance of existing forms and creating new forms.

    ·      I have never used Jotform but have watched many of the videos available on YouTube

    ·      I have an existing form that is connected to a smart pdf – I need to update both the form and the pdf

    ·      I don’t have access to the original pdf – I only have access to what shows up in Jotform

    ·      When I update the form – it does not update the pdf

    ·      I contacted support to get directions on updating the pdf but the instructions were not helpful because I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS to the original pdf so there is nothing to “upload”

    ·      I asked about deleting the pdf connection completely but was told that is not an option – I guess once a connection is made it has to stay?

    ·      I tried cloning the form figuring the pdf would not be attached, but was wrong

    ·      My issue is simple….how do I update a form and also update the connected smart pdf when I don’t have access to the original pdf?

    ·      I need to change the title on the pdf to “2025 After School….” But don’t know how

    ·      There are also additions that have been made to the form that do not appear on the current pdf “I am interested in reading” and “Reading is enjoyable”

    ·      There are formatting errors on the pdf

    ·      The added questions were Single Choice and the buttons seem to be randomly appearing on the pdf form which has created quite a mess (see the green circles):


    ·      There are random circles that appear on the pdf form (they all seem to be tied to the newly added questions that appear at the end of the form


    This is my third time trying to get this problem resolved. I was told there is no phone support and I can’t connect with someone one-on-one so this is my last hope. 


    Again, I reiterate that I DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO THE ORIGINAL PDF so the instructions I have been provided are not helpful.

    Hi Yolanda,

    Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I understand that you do not have access to the original PDF, which is causing difficulties in updating the connected Smart PDF. Unfortunately, without access to the original PDF, you won't be able to make updates directly to the existing PDF file. The connection to the original PDF is essential for any modifications to be reflected in the Smart PDF.

    As a workaround, you might consider creating a new PDF document that incorporates the changes you need. However, this would require starting fresh with a new PDF upload and mapping the fields again.
