Feature Request: Auto-Updating Embed Option

    Hi Jotform Support Team,

I’m reaching out because I’m struggling with embedding Jotform forms in a way that works seamlessly with Google Tag Manager (GTM) tracking and client updates. I’ve been using Jotform for its no-code interface, which my clients love for managing custom forms on their websites. However, I’ve hit a snag: the iframe embed makes it tough to track “first interactions” (e.g., field focus) in GTM without custom postMessage workarounds, and the raw code embed requires me to re-upload code every time a client edits their form—negating the ease of client-managed updates.

I noticed Typeform offers a JavaScript injection method that auto-updates the embedded form when changes are made, without needing to re-embed code, and it integrates smoothly with GTM. Does Jotform have an equivalent auto-updating embed option like Typeform’s JS injection method? I see the default JavaScript embed dynamically loads the form in an iframe, but I’m unclear if it fully supports live updates and GTM tracking without manual intervention. If this exists, could you point me to how it works or any documentation? If not, are there plans to add a similar feature?

I’d love to stick with the iframe (or a better alternative) so clients can edit forms without me touching the site, but I need reliable GTM tracking and an embed that reflects changes automatically. Any insight would be a huge help!

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I completely understand the need for a seamless embedding solution that updates dynamically like Typeform's JS injection. Unfortunately, Jotform doesn’t currently offer a similar feature, as implementing JavaScript poses security risks for our users.

And about your feature request, while that isn’t currently available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Our iframe embed ensures safety and reliability, though it may require workarounds like custom events for tracking with Google Tag Manager (GTM).

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
