Unique Submission: Does the same submission won't be accepted indefinitely?

We use the same luncheon reservation/payments form for monthly events, just editing a few details, changing some images and the active dates, and deleting all the "submissions" from the previous month's event.

Because of a few persistent duplicate submissions, was thinking about setting the "unique submissions" feature (probably cookies only).

But I'm wondering if we are using the same form (with only text and image changes), would folks who signed up for, example, January's event be locked out when they try to sign up for (example) March's event?

If yes, would this still occur if I cloned the form? Would the cloned form "remember" previous folks who had registered in the past?

    Thanks,

    Mel

    Hi Mel,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. As long as the same submission data still exists in the submission table, the same submission data won't be accepted in the form. But if you clone your form or delete those submissions on your form, the user can submit the same submission data because it's now considered a unique submission and not a duplicate one. Take note that the cloned form doesn't contain the submissions from the original form, so all the new submissions will be accepted once. You can clone your form in My Forms page. Let me show you how to do it:

    1. In My Forms page, hover your mouse over your form, and click on More.
    2. Click on Clone.

That's it. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Gian - would it also work if I just delete submissions from the existing form and NOT clone it?

    thanks

    Hi Mel,

Yes, this will also work on your original or existing form. Cloning the form could be helpful because the cloned form is technically a new, distinct form. If you clone the form for each month, it will not detect who signed up for previous forms or events, allowing people to register without being blocked.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
