Jotform App: Allowing users to edit their submission within the app.

Asked on September 18, 2024 at 5:08 PM

    I have created a Jotform APP https://app.jotform.com/241866827650264

Within the APP I have a Jotform FORM element. https://form.jotform.com/240387872087265

When the FORM element is completed, an edit link is created and sent by the autoresponder email to the submitter.

If the submitter wishes to change their submission, they must refer back to this email.

I would like to have this "edit link" available to them in the Jotform APP so they are not tied to an email. Everything they need is available through the APP.

Is there a way I can pass this edit link value to the Jotform APP?

Thanks for any help or suggestions. The Jotform APP offers tremendous capability!

    Eric

    Hi Eric,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Although we don't have the option to add a submission edit link to your Jotform app, as a workaround, you can add an edit link to your Thank You page, so users can edit their submission within the app without accessing their notification email. Let me show you how to do it:

    1. In Form Builder, click on Settings in the orange navigation bar at the top of the screen.
    2. In the menu that opens on the left side of the page, click on Thank You Page.
    3. Click on Action Buttons.

    4. Click on Edit Submission.

    5. Enter your button name.
    6. Click on Create.

    Perhaps I am I missing something .

Please let me know and thanks for your help

    Hello Eric,

Adding edit link to your forms' Thank You Page is done from the form builder and not from the App. Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
    2. In the menu that opens on the left side of the page, click on Thank You Page.
    3. Once there, click on your Thank You Page Builder and add the edit link in which ever place you'd like by clicking the 'Action Buttons' and then select 'Edit Submissions'.
    4. After this, it will be added to the Thank You Page body.

Thanks for this. I do understand the Thank You page and the button.

I would like to see the "button" accessed via the APP i.e. a button in the APP that says "change registration" .

As it is now, I cannot perform this function from the APP. I must go and get the link from an email (or Thank You page).

I would like an APP element that will point to the edit-link.

I hope this clarifies what I'm trying to do. Sorry for any confusion

    Eric

    Hi Eric,

I've cloned your form and tested it in a test Jotform app to demonstrate the edit submission button in the Thank You page. Check out the screencast below:

As you can see, I was able to display the edit submission button within the app, allowing users to modify their submission. You can adjust how long the Thank You page is going to be displayed in the app by configuring the Form element settings. Let me show you how to do it:

    1. In App Builder, click on the Gear icon of your Form element.
    2. In Thank You Page Display Time, select how long you want your Thank You page to be displayed.

With the Jotform App, you can enable users to edit their submissions by using the “Edit Link” feature. Simply include the edit link in the autoresponder email or app interface, giving users access to update their responses after submission. This enhances flexibility and improves the user experience. There is a terminology issue. When I say Jotform APP I am referring to the ability to bundle. A FORM is an element of the APP

If you look at the blue boxes, REGISTER is the FORM

CANCEL REGISTRATION is a link to admin to remove from TABLE

REGISTRATIONS AT A GLANCE is a REPORT

    I would like CHANGE REGISTRATION to point to the {EDIT LINK}

    How do I do this?

    Thanks

    Hi Eric,

I’ll need a bit of time to look into this. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

    Hi Eric,

Unfortunately, as I mentioned, we don't have an option to add an edit link in the Jotform app. While the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
