6 best AI e-commerce website builders in 2025

AI website builders have revolutionized the e-commerce space. Think about it: You no longer have to find and pay a developer, and you can launch a scalable website quickly — all thanks to AI online store builders.

Before I get into the six best AI e-commerce website builders, I do feel the need to caveat this: A properly developed website is always the best option. I know this to be true because I’ve worked in leading e-commerce agencies specializing in e-commerce design and development. I was a project manager working on custom e-commerce solutions, primarily focusing on website CMS solutions such as Magento, Shopify, and WordPress.

All that said, AI e-commerce solutions have their place. Since accepting that fact, I’ve tried many.

Startups, scaleups, and entrepreneurs can use e-commerce AI tools to create their phase-one website. This means you get your site running and generating revenue before investing time in finding the right developer (an extremely challenging task) and money in a more robust e-commerce website. It also means that the technical barriers to going live are as close to zero as possible, allowing website owners to maintain full control of their site until they’re knowledgeable enough to hand over more control to a developer.

In this article, I’m sharing my experience with six of the best AI e-commerce website builders on the market today. After reading this, you’ll feel empowered to choose a technology provider and create your e-com website.

Why choose an AI e-commerce website builder?

AI-powered builders eliminate coding, optimize store designs, and personalize customer experiences — all in minutes.

6 best AI e-commerce website builders in 2025

AI e-commerce website builders have come a long way from traditional website builders. With AI, you can build e-commerce websites from nothing more than text, and you can do it independently (as in, without the need for a developer). These AI platforms simplify the creation and management of online stores.

1. Shopify

6 best AI e-commerce website builders in 2025 Image-1

Best for: Businesses serious about e-commerce and looking to scale.

Developer: Shopify

Key features:

  • AI-powered product image editing within Shopify provides the photo editing skills necessary to create new product backgrounds. If you had product photography done but forgot to get the all-important white background shots, the AI will sort it for you.
  • Shopify Magic’s generative AI accelerates the content creation process by writing headlines, product descriptions, chat replies, and blog posts.
  • Sidekick, Shopify’s AI-enabled commerce assistant, knows all there is to know about Shopify and e-commerce. Ask Sidekick anything and it’ll assist you. For example, if you need support with the drag-and-drop builder, it shows you how.

Shopify is a comprehensive solution that offers AI to help people build their e-commerce websites.

Shopify is by far the most scalable solution in this roundup and the best overall. I highly recommend it to anyone serious about their e-commerce business, particularly those who want a wide range of e-commerce capabilities now or in the future, or plan to list a large number of SKUs.

Important note: Although Shopify is the best overall, it doesn’t mean everyone needs it. Weigh all the options outlined in this article, as they are all good.

The AI ecommerce features on Shopify are particularly strong, and Shopify’s AI-enabled assistant, Sidekick, is trained on Shopify and the broader e-commerce industry.

Here’s a look at what I got from Sidekick when I told it, “Recommend an app to allow stacking discounts.”

What impressed me about Sidekick’s response was that it had the intelligence to tell me Shopify natively solves my query and didn’t just give me what I asked for (apps I’d probably need to pay for).

Pros:

  • Highly scalable solution that can host any-sized website. Everything from startups to enterprise e-commerce businesses use Shopify.
  • Over 8,000 ecommerce apps are available in Shopify. You can almost guarantee that any problem you need to solve has been encountered, resolved, and an app created for Shopify.
  • Shopify is by far the most searched e-commerce solution. This is impressive, since Shopify (and WooCommerce) are the only solutions that are e-commerce-only tools. See the Google Trends graph below. Even GoDaddy searches dropped as Shopify’s increased, and GoDaddy does a lot outside of e-com.
6 best AI e-commerce website builders in 2025 Image-3

Cons:

  • Not the easiest UX compared to other solutions. When I started using Shopify, I didn’t find the UX as straightforward as other solutions — but I do feel like I’m really having to stretch to find a con here.
  • Replatforming could pose an issue for smaller businesses that are currently using other solutions. For example, this could be the case if you’re a small business or a charity selling a few products. In that case, the functionality of Shopify might be too much, so think about what you need before you jump to Shopify just because it’s the best overall solution.
  • You will always pay for Shopify. There’s a monthly fee and card transactions to pay. WooCommerce, on the other hand, can be used completely free of charge.

Limitations:

  • Closed-source solution means developers can’t do what they want on Shopify, and the checkout is completely untouchable.
  • Some functionality will only be available through apps, which may require a fee.

Plans/Pricing:

Shopify has tiers, and you can trial them all for $1 per month.

Monthly fees are as follows:

  • Basic: $29 per month
  • Grow: $79 per month
  • Advanced: $299 per month
  • Plus: $2,300 per month

Be sure to check for additional card transaction fees, as these fees vary.

G2 rating: 4.5/5

Which AI e-commerce builder is right for you?

If you need fast setup, pick an AI-powered drag-and-drop builder. If you prefer deep customization, choose an AI-assisted coding platform.

2. WordPress and WooCommerce

screenshot of wordpress website homepage with the words build a website in seconds with AI

Best for: Smaller businesses with fewer SKUs, or businesses that want an open-source solution that is highly adaptable.

Developer: WordPress and Woo

Key features:

  • Thousands of AI integrations and plugins let you design and build an AI-assisted site with as much or as little AI as you like.
  • Modular design allows you to build the website of your dreams, adding or removing modules as your business grows. You can choose to lean into the AI modules or switch to classic WordPress editors.
  • WordPress’s AI website builder will build a website from a text prompt. You start with your brand name, followed by a description, then the tone. Next, you select a website structure, choosing a wire-framed option for a single-page or multi-page site. Finally, the AI generates designs for you to choose from. Select your design, and the AI will build the site with the necessary plugins.

Here’s what the start of your automated e-commerce design and build journey looks like:

In this instance, I’m covering WordPress and WooCommerce together because you don’t use WooCommerce without WordPress.

WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS) with a modular design. It’s an excellent solution, and the CMS powers nearly half (43 percent) of all websites.

6 best AI e-commerce website builders in 2025 Image-4

Its modularity stems from the ability to extend core functionality using plugins and themes, which allow users to build anything from blogs to complex e-commerce websites. Being open-source means the code is freely available and can be modified by anyone with the necessary skills, giving developers complete control over customizing the site and determining how it functions.

WooCommerce is an e-commerce plugin that enables e-commerce functionality on your WordPress site. There will be other options, but trust me — use WooCommerce. It has over 10 million downloads and is incredibly well-reviewed (4.5/5 stars and over 4,500 reviews on the plugin directory).

I’ve written quite a lot about WordPress and WooCommerce, including this article that shares how easy it is to add plugins and the top plugins for WooCommerce.

Pros:

  • Highly flexible solution that will scale with a business (check out the cons for scaling ecommerce products).
  • Full access to WordPress’ source code, offering complete flexibility for when you’re ready to bring on a developer.
  • No limitations on product listings and variations; you can add and build up product fields as much as you desire. (This can be a con though!)
  • The Commerce package comes with the right e-commerce tools, plugins, and optimizations to make the most out of your online store.

Cons:

  • Full flexibility means new e-commerce entrepreneurs can run amok with features. The limitations of Shopify can be beneficial, as it’s specifically designed for e-commerce and has gained and learned from years of industry experience.
  • E-commerce analytics is not as well-rounded as Shopify.
  • Listing numerous products on WooCommerce can become cumbersome.
  • AI features depend on plugins, whereas Shopify AI is a built-in feature that can support you with Shopify queries and e-commerce generally.

Limitations:

  • It’s not an all-in-one ecommerce solution. WordPress and WooCommerce need plugins and custom setup for AI features.
  • Experience with plugins is helpful. Although the modularity of WordPress and plugins makes building an e-com store easy, there are so many options, and you might not pick the best solution without some experience, in which case, you just need a WordPress specialist.

Plans/Pricing: The flexibility of WordPress means you don’t have to pay anything to use the platform. If I were building a site alone without developer support, I might opt for a WordPress plan, which is essentially a hosting plan that lets you keep all details in one place.

With a plan, WordPress will provide a ready-to-go WordPress site. This is where the AI website builder comes in. Packages include

  • Personal: $4 per month, paid annually
  • Premium: $8 per month, paid annually
  • Business: $25 per month, paid annually
  • Commerce: $45 per month, paid annually
  • Enterprise: Starts at $25,000 per year

G2 ratings:

WordPress and WooCommerce both have a rating of 4.4/5. See WooCommerce’s G2 here.

3. Elementor

screenshot of Elementor product interface

Best for: Modular design with AI capabilities, and those who want drag-and-drop control.

Developer: Elementor

Key features:

  • AI Copilot is an e-commerce website builder’s best friend. You can use it to speed up the content generation process for a range of content, including product descriptions.
  • Generating variations will provide new designs for selected sections of your website. Simply click generate variation with AI and type a short text prompt, such as “add vibrant colors,” and the AI will do the rest.
  • AI image generation enables you to create an image from a text prompt, and then edit it by removing the background or applying a product to a white background — great for e-commerce.

Elementor is a WordPress plugin — as WooCommerce is — but I’ve listed it separately because it’s not as foundational as WordPress and WooCommerce are in their pairing.

There are many editors, such as Elementor (Divi is another popular option), but Elementor is my favorite by far.

Pros:

  • It has many AI features to help build an e-com website, including those listed above, and AI Copilot and AI context.
  • It’s very easy to use. Elementor’s ease of use is where it outshines alternatives like Divi. I’ve also found Elementor to be less “heavy” — it doesn’t slow pages down as much as Divi.
  • It seamlessly integrates with WordPress.

Here’s a picture of how Elementor looks on my client’s site:

You can see the widgets on the left (there are more if you scroll) and an area where you can simply drag and drop the elements you like.

Cons:

  • I’ve never needed it, so I can’t comment, but Elementor’s customer support gets a bad reputation on G2.

Limitations:

  • The best AI features are the ones you have to pay for, but they’re not expensive.
  • It’s available on WordPress only, which can be a problem if you become accustomed to the builder and then have to replatform.

Plans/Pricing:

With Elementor, you need to pay to use the plugin, and then you pay an additional fee for the AI features.

For one website, you have the following options:

  • Essential: $4.99 per month, billed annually
  • Advanced Solo: $6.99 per month, billed annually

To add the AI capabilities, you need to pay:

  • AI Starter: $3.99 per month, billed annually
  • AI Power: $8.25 per month, billed annually
  • AI Visionary: $15.99 per month, billed annually

G2 rating: 4/5

4. Wix

6 best AI e-commerce website builders in 2025 Image-5

Best for: Beginners and small e-commerce businesses.

Developer: Wix

Key features:

  • AI-assisted design changes let you generate a whole new layout at the click of a button.
  • AI background removal is ideal for e-commerce websites. Any products that need a uniform white background are easily sorted with Wix.
  • Wix’s AI-assisted e-commerce website builder builds you an online store in minutes.

I tested the Wix AI builder to see what it was like. The following screenshot shows the generative AI in action:

With a few text prompts, you get an e-com store built for you with generative AI.

After the “chat” pictured above, Wix created the website for me. This image shows how it looks:

Pretty impressive! I haven’t amended this in the slightest.

Pros:

  • Because it’s very beginner-friendly, you can get started on Wix and create an e-commerce website in minutes with the AI website builder.
  • Support is available 24-7.
  • It has had a strong SEO focus for many years. Wix has an SEO podcast and an extremely knowledgeable SEO team. I appeared on their podcast once! Wix used to receive a lot of criticism for being a poor option for SEO, but this is no longer the case — they flipped the narrative when they hired SEO experts and created Wix’s SEO hub, which helps website administrators attract more visitors to their websites.

Cons:

  • Wix isn’t designed for e-commerce in the same way that Shopify is, but you can still create a great e-com website on Wix.

Limitations:

  • It’s a closed-source solution (same as Shopify), so you can’t customize Wix in the same way that you can WordPress.

Plans/Pricing: You can start building your e-commerce website with AI straightaway, but you’ll need to buy one of Wix’s four plans to go live:

  • Light: $17 per month
  • Core: $29 per month
  • Business: $39 per month
  • Business Elite: $159 per month

G2 rating: 4.2/5

5. Squarespace

screenshot of squarespace AI showing how a user can enter a few words about their ecommerce store

Best for: Small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Developer: Squarespace

Key features:

  • AI website builder, Blueprint AI, guides you through a series of questions and builds a site based on the text you input.
  • Generative AI assists with content creation, including SEO site descriptions, blog posts, and course descriptions. You can train the Squarespace AI on your brand guidelines or tone of voice.
  • Product description generator writes memorable sales copy that differentiates your products from other websites. All you need to do is provide the AI with a text prompt summarizing your product, and the AI takes care of the rest.

Pros:

  • Squarespace SEO is fine. I’ve worked on sites built on Squarespace and never had an issue. I’m adding this to Pros because I know Squarespace gets criticism for poor SEO, and this would concern e-commerce managers (rightly so), but it’s still pretty solid for most users.
  • Trial Blueprint AI and build your website for free. You need to pay for it once you’re ready for the site to go live.

Cons:

  • This platform is beginner level, which will be a pro for some, but if you’re serious about e-com and plan to scale, you might end up limited by Squarespace’s functionality.
  • Squarespace isn’t a specialist e-commerce platform like Shopify is.

Limitations:

  • There’s no plugin marketplace, so functionality is mostly limited to built-in tools.

Plans/Pricing:

  • Basic: $16 per month, billed annually
  • Core: $23 per month, billed annually
  • Plus: $39 per month, billed annually
  • Advanced: $99 per month, billed annually

G2 rating: 4.4/5

6. GoDaddy

screenshot of godaddy product interface

Best for: Those who want a quick, all-in-one ecommerce setup.

Developer: GoDaddy

Key features:

  • An AI-generated website builder that will create a website for you in five simple steps. Start by answering a few questions prompted by GoDaddy’s AI, and the AI generates the site based on your answers; you fill in your content, and it goes live.
  • Automated inventory sync across channels and automated sales tax calculators on the e-commerce package. This means more of your business can be managed within GoDaddy, which will appeal to those who want that all-in-one solution.
  • An AI logo maker you can use to generate a new, unique logo for your site.

Pros:

  • Manage everything in one place, including hosting, domains, and even marketing.
  • Marketing packages might be helpful for people who are just entering the digital world.
  • An extensive library of content to help e-commerce newbies. There’s the GoDaddy blog, which is extensive and contains a wealth of marketing and website advice, as well as a help center for the more technical aspects.

Cons:

  • GoDaddy does a lot, but it’s not a specialist in marketing or e-commerce. Initially, GoDaddy handled only domains and hosting.
  • The UI and management of upgrades get some complaints on G2.

Limitations:

  • Large e-commerce stores will outgrow GoDaddy, although smaller sites could continue to use the platform.
  • Limited templates. On GoDaddy’s website, they advertise having “100-plus templates,” whereas WordPress advertises 3,000 free themes, and the Shopify theme store features over 800 fully customizable themes specifically for online selling.

Plans/Pricing: The pricing on GoDaddy depends considerably on the services you want to include. The best thing to do is review their pricing page.

The GoDaddy Website Builder packages are

  • Basic: $9.99 per month.
  • Premium: $14.99 per month
  • Commerce: $20.99 per month

G2 rating: GoDaddy offers a range of services related to websites.

For its website builder, the rating is 4.5.

It also has a rating of 3.9/5 stars for its domain services and a 4/5 rating for its hosting services. The reason these ratings are relevant is because if you choose GoDaddy, you want the all-in-one solution of both domain management and hosting with GoDaddy.

The future of AI-powered e-commerce stores

AI-powered e-commerce stores are game changers for online sellers. Instead of starting a business facing immediate expenses as they try to launch a site, entrepreneurs and startups can roll up their sleeves and build visually appealing, functional websites within a few minutes.

The beauty of machine learning store builders is e-commerce entrepreneurs can learn about the foundations of building an e-commerce website before engaging a developer’s expertise.

One important note: If you’re serious about e-com and selling online, there will come a point where hiring expertise is essential.

Why does this matter? Because you need to pick the right platform — the one that will fulfill your entrepreneurial goals now and scale with you.

Because choosing the right platform is essential, evaluate this article carefully to determine what these AI store builders are best suited for. Some are ideal for small-scale operations (Squarespace, Wix, GoDaddy), whereas others (WordPress, WooCommerce, and Elementor) are particularly well-suited for e-commerce.

Apart from those options, you might choose Shopify for its ability to scale with any business and the way it is well-equipped with AI features trained on Shopify’s website builder, as well as e-commerce more generally.

Take note of open-source solutions versus closed-source solutions, and check the limitations of each closed-source platform. WordPress is the only open-source platform in this roundup that offers full customization.

Finally, consider integrations, especially if you want to scale your e-commerce business.
